The Entrepreneurs Desk is your learning area where we have presented different areas of entrepreneurship. Here you will find our Entrepreneurs Foundation Program in six modules. Meet entrepreneur Krishnendu DCosta
Suicidal to comeback
In the year 2017, Krishnendu DCosta, an Indian entrepreneur, who was then based in Suriname, South America, lost the 5- year old business that he had built due to a sabotage. This trauma had tremendous impact on him and left him in depression. On 9th December 2017, on his birthday, he wanted to take sleeping pills to end his life. Fortunately, that did not happen, but a year later, he and Saveen Setia, another Indian entrepreneur, also based in Suriname, South America set up the Saregamapa Bollywood Contest ( no way related to Saregamapa India) in Suriname in 2019. Let us look at his journey since then.
Incubating and loosing Republik
In 2022, Krishnendu setup a micro fund to start Republik Restocafe, a multicuisine terrace restaurant. The kickoff began with a bang but due to lack of manpower and some operational challenges he pulled the plug and closed the business in 2024, 26th December. Although this was a setback but by now Krishnendu had learnt how to fall and stand on his feet again. Loosing Republik was like loosing a child but he learnt that often an investment is best to be lost. That is investor mindset and not entrepreneur mindset.
Starting Shaanark Ventures informally
Around the same time the, foundation work of incorporating Shaanark Ventures started which would eventually be incorporated on 2024. By this time an acquaintance who assisted him in his maiden short film production, Charlotte Beelen, got involved in the business. One of the verticals, under Shaanark Ventures, in software development had to be halted as that went rogue.
Shaanark, Charlotte and the journey
Officially Krishnendu DCosta, incorporated Shaanark Ventures, a consulting firm, in 2024. Shaanark Ventures operated verticals in marketing, design, web design and training, Besides, Shaanark ran several entrepreneur discussion on change management and how to calibrate a business or its departments in areas of performance management. In 2025, Krishnendu DCosta, invited Charlotte Beelen also into the shareholding and she stepped into the role of the new CEO and Director. The company by now had a stable cashflow and stable team of 7 colleagues.
Learning and Development must become an embedded culture
Even if you are a small organization you must begin with a learning and development culture inside your organization. Therefore it goes without saying that bigger companies must have continuous learning and development and must encourage teammembers and colleagues to improve their own knowledge and skill and be conscious of the same.
